What We Do

Since 2001, we've focused on nurturing healthy relationships and forging robust community partnerships. Our dedication extends to working with youth, adults, victims, and communities affected by crime. In recent years, we've ventured beyond the confines of the criminal justice system, exploring proactive applications of a restorative approach. Through partnerships with schools and various community groups, we've strived to implement restorative practices in diverse settings.

For Victims

At the heart of our mission lies a dedication to victims, ensuring respect, safety, voice, information, and reparation throughout their involvement. Our aim is to empower and support victims as they navigate the restorative process.

For Youth (12-17)

Since 2001, we have worked with youth who have been in conflict with the law to identify and address issues, harms and needs of those involved and to develop plans for the future.

For Adults (18+)

Since 2016, our dedication extended to working with adults and partnering with Correctional Services to broaden our scope. Our collaborative efforts empower accountability, reconciliation, and community engagement. For more information contact us or the team at Correctional Services at 902-742-3551

For the Community

Community involvement is pivotal in addressing harm, creating safer neighborhoods, and supporting positive changes. We engage actively with the community, nurturing accountability, connections, and safer environments.

Supporting our Schools

We support educators interested in implementing restorative practices in our schools. We aim to strengthen relationships, improve environments, and transform conflict resolution within schools, fostering accountability and a sense of community among students and staff.

Our Restorative Reach

Recognizing the importance of relationships and engaging with the community in meaningful ways will support building a human-centered approach. Being relationship-focused, encourages us to think about how we treat one another and how we connect as humans. Sometimes, just small changes and Innovative solutions can benefit community places and spaces such as businesses, institutions and organizations. Together, we can foster empathetic and healthier environments.

Principles and Goals

We are committed to a restorative approach to justice grounded in the principles, which guide the development, governance and implementation of the Nova Scotia Restorative Justice Program (NSRJP)
